So you got a brand-spankin’ new dSLR for Christmas or your birthday…now what?
Or…maybe you know a thing or two about using your camera, but you want to get better images. But how?
Or, maybe you’ve been working hard on your composition, but you just don’t know how to edit your images to give them the pop and sizzle that you think they should have in post-production. What do you need to do?
SAVVY. SHUTTERBUG. WORKSHOPS.
I am passionately, immensely devoted to education. I would have gladly been a professional student if I could have been, because I love, love, love learning. I love school. And since my grandmother, my mom, and my sister are all teachers, maybe the whole teaching thing runs in the genes. (And actually, I did a couple years of teaching too!) So, as people started to approach me with questions about their cameras and processing, I realized that sharing my love for learning and my love for photography might be a pretty awesome combo. So, I came up with Savvy Shutterbug Workshops. I know the names are a little whimsical, but I’m a little whimsical, too. :)
Savvy Shutterbug : Course One ($100)
This course will cover all the basics. We’ll start with understanding how your dSLR camera works and some of the important technical information you NEED to know in order to make your camera work for you. The first part of the course is very sit-down, a bit more lecture-type driven. But you can’t make progress unless you’re familiar with the tools you’re using! The second part of the course takes us to a much more hands-on approach, where we actually get to employ some of the information we’ve just learned and do some shooting! :)
Savvy Shutterbug : Course Two ($200)
Now that you know the basics and have done some practice with them, it’s time to go out and learn how to turn your visions into pictures! We’ll talk posing, camera settings needed to achieve your ideas, locations, and the number one most important thing that you’ll need to learn to shoot : light! This course is very hands on as we’ll be meeting on location and practice shooting with models.
Savvy Shutterbug : Course Three ($100)
So you’ve taken some pictures, you like the way they turned out, and now you need to know how to edit them. I use Adobe Lightroom to do the vast majority of my editing and, even though I love Adobe software, it doesn’t exactly win any awards for being intuitive and user-friendly. So I’m here to give you a little bit of guidance. Bring your laptop or notebook and we’ll go over how to use all those sliders and buttons in Lightroom to really make your colors pop.
Savvy Shutterbug : Course Three Online ($75)
This course is offered to groups of six students (exactly six!), who don’t mind learning via the internet. We’ll all meet in a designated online space where I can screen share and teach you the Artistic Firefly course, while we’re all in the comfort of our own homes. So recruit your five other friends who want to learn Lightroom and contact me! :)
Savvy Shutterbug : One-on-One Session ($400)
Want to dive deeper into the world of photography? I’m happy to offer exclusive mentoring just for you. You get my whole attention as we walk around a location, talking about your specific needs and interests in photography. One-on-one coaching is great for people who are ready to take their photography to the next level or who are beginning businesses of their own and want some training with someone who’s “been there and done that”. There is so much to learn in the photography world and mentoring is really THE way to get yourself the head-start you need.
