Julie and Mike are a very special couple for a number of reasons. One of the ones that I want to highlight, though, is the reason that brought them to me: Operation Wedding. Last year, Shade Trees and Evergreens approached me in the fall to tell me about a special contest that they were running for military couples as a way of giving back. In this case, the owners at Shade Trees and Evergreens wanted to give one deserving military couple a free dream wedding. I was thrilled that they asked me if I would be willing to donate a gift of photography coverage to their contest, especially since I have my own soft spot for military personnel.
Well, Julie and Mike just so happen to be that wonderful deserving couple that won that contest! While deployed in Afghanistan last year, Mike wrote a sweet essay about why his lovely bride-to-be should get the wedding of her dreams. Meeting them this spring to go over wedding photography details, I could easily see why they were chosen. Julie and Mike are a really kind and down-to-earth couple, friendly and easy to get along with. I was excited about doing their wedding photography after our meeting, but then got even more so when we started talking about engagement photography. Julie mentioned that she wanted to do a few pictures in Mount Airy, where they both grew up, and then do a few pictures in a “farm-like” setting. Fortunately for us, one of Julie’s friends found Sharp’s at Waterford Farm for us to shoot at.
I was so happy with the way this session turned out. I had an amazing time working with Julie and Mike and can’t wait for their wedding in August.
