Wow. Well, 2014 is here and that means that I need to stop for a moment and look back on last year. Last year brought amazing change for me personally — I gave birth to my beautiful daughter, Cora Elizabeth, at the end of October. I was also a newlywed (my husband, Patrick, and I got married in December of 2012) and we bought our first house. I can honestly say that 2013 was such a fulfilling and happy year for me and I couldn’t have wished for anything more. I am immensely blessed and I can only thank God for it all.
I’d like to think that those changes have influenced me as a photographer also. It’s funny — as I look back on the many weddings and shoots I did last year, I’ve come to realize that in addition to creative photography, what I value most of all is the art of capturing what it is to be ALIVE. Smiles, happiness, tears, energy…that’s what my photography is about. I think I would almost rather my tagline to be “Photography for Vibrant People” than anything else. Anyone who really knows me knows that I live with my heart on my sleeve. I love the brilliancy of emotion and seeing it boldly expressed with sincerity. That’s what I capture. That’s what I hope you see here.
I hope that you enjoy this journey of 2013 with me. I traveled all over the East Coast, laughed and did silly things, shuffled my feet near dance floors, cried behind my camera, and sampled a slice of wedding cake or two ;). I couldn’t have done it without my partner in crime, Patrick, whose work is mixed in here. Also many, many thanks to Jim Heine, Mandi White, Todd Wilson, Maureen Martin, and Tim McCormack.Thank you also to my friend Pamela who sat with me this past week and helped me create this slideshow, watching it over and over again as I tweaked it. If you can, view it in all its HD glory. It’s worth it. This year, I was able to narrow things down more than last year so the video is just over six minutes. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I loved making it!
2013 was wonderful. I can’t wait for the journey to continue.
