This wedding is very dear to me for a lot of reasons and it involves some people that I’ve known for a very long time! One of my closest friends in high school and college was a girl named Theresa who, soon after college, announced that she had decided to join an order of cloistered nuns. Practically, it meant that while she would be living a beautiful life of service to God — I wouldn’t really get to see her in the future. As sad as I was about not seeing her, it was always so nice to know and hear about her through her family and also to hear about the lives of her four gorgeous sisters as they also went on their own paths and started families. Last year, Theresa’s youngest sister, Katy, approached me about doing her wedding photography and I couldn’t have been more excited. I have pictures with Katy when she was still a little girl and showed up to see us off to our prom in high school, so it was a little mind-blowing that Theresa’s baby sister was all grown up and getting married! (And a reminder that I’m getting old, haha.) But Katy had found a wonderful match in a great guy named Gus (who comes from another clan of loyal clients I love — the Schusters!). The result was that this wedding really was such an honor for me to work at. I couldn’t have been more proud to be the photographer this day to such an exceptional couple who not only shine with love for each other, but for their faith and family as well. Here’s wishing a lifetime of happiness to Katy and Gus, who deserve all the best.
